WO R.G. (Jock) Smail (RAF) was one of the engineers who came out with the Shackleton delivery flight. He then joined 35 Squadron SAAF, and was Pottie’s mentor on the “Shack.”

Denise dos Santos is Jock Smail’s daughter.
